Mental Health Awareness Week: Relationships
Mental Health Awareness Week begins today. Throughout the week, the Mental Health Foundation will be focussing on relationships and raising awareness on why good relationships are essential to maintaining good mental health.
Did you know that healthy & supportive relationships reduce the risks of mental ill-health? Good relationships can add to our wellbeing as well as protecting and sustaining our mental health. Relationships build a sense of belonging and self-worth. Evidence suggests that wellbeing can be passed on through relationships. Being around people with strong mental wellbeing can improve your own mental wellbeing.
By raising awareness of mental health wellbeing, the Mental Health Foundation hopes to use this week to, not only recognise people that offer emotional support and help, but also campaign to ensure that decision makers start addressing the barriers that stop people forming such important relationships.
