New Managing Director appointed at Cartwright King
Specialist Midlands law firm Cartwright King has restructured its top management team and has appointed Rupert Hawke as Managing Director.
Rupert was previously the firm’s finance director and prior to that its financial controller. He will now be working alongside chairman and original founder Michael Thurston and his fellow directors to build on the firm’s success in readiness for further expansion.
Originally established in Nottingham in 2000 purely as a criminal defence firm when the crime team from Freeth Cartwright left to set up the business, Cartwright King has since expanded its operations, opening additional offices in Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Sheffield and Newcastle Gateshead and broadened the range of services it provides. Its services now include criminal and business defence, family, motoring and road transport law, employment, immigration, mental health and professional discipline as well as inhouse advocacy services.
Cartwright King has an impressive track record of consistent growth particularly over the last few years. Turnover has tripled in the last seven years and the firm now has a multi-cultural team of over 140 staff and directors. It is also a leading user of IT which helps to increase the efficiency of its working practices and enables it to provide an improved client service. These factors all combine to position Cartwright King as number one in The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners and also makes it one of the top 10 providers of criminal legal aid in the country.
“With all the changes taking place in the legal profession, particularly the changes to legal aid, it is an important that we are prepared for the challenges that this brings.”
said Rupert Hawke.
“Over the last few years we have been focusing on ensuring that we have the right structure and team in place to enable us to compete effectively and also ensure that we can provide a high quality service to our clients. This strategy appears to be paying off with the firm being well positioned to take advantage of the opportunities and to achieve further growth.”
