Cartwright King is looking for an administrative assistant to join the Court of Protection team in Birmingham, which manages financial deputyship cases in addition to health and welfare work.

Prime Responsibilities:

  • Opening new case files
  • Inputting data to cases
  • Scanning daily post and other documents to case plans
  • Photocopying documents
  • Preparing court bundles
  • General typing of file notes
  • Telephone notes
  • Responding to basic correspondence
  • Diary management to include arranging client meetings
  • Booking interview rooms, etc.
  • Answering the phone to take messages or redirecting calls to appropriate colleagues
  • Printing transcriptions for fee earners
  • Filing
  • Attending meetings with fee earners and taking notes of meetings
  •  Collating enclosures for post
  • Liaising with accounts team to process payments and assist with interim billing
  • Closure and archiving of competed files
  • Perform other office duties as assigned

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an administrative assistant preferably in a legal setting
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, e.g. printers and fax machines
  • proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, Word, Outlook in particular)
  • Excellent communication and typing skills
  • Prior experience of case management software would be advantageous but training will be given
