Post-Separation Abuse Awareness Week

This week, commencing from the 18th September 2023, marks Post-Separation Abuse Awareness Week. The event has been implemented by the abuse charity Kaleidoscopic UK (KUK), the awareness week’s purpose is to highlight the prevalence and reality of post-separation abuse.
As of April 2023, post-separation abuse is officially categorised under the Serious Crimes Act (2015). This means that the law now deems coercive and controlling behaviour post-separation as an offence.
Post-separation abuse encompasses ongoing abusive patterns that persist after a relationship has concluded. This can encompass various forms of abuse, such as financial, emotional, and physical abuse, including stalking and harassment.
Statement From the KUK Team
“Sadly this type of abuse is still so often minimised, excused or misunderstood, we want to change that.”
“We are asking you to please share among your networks and to join us by taking part with the #PSAAW across your socials as well as wearing a Yellow ribbon/hosting events and awareness training.”
