Cartwright King Shortlisted in Six Categories at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2026

Family Law Awards Finalist
In: Press Release

Cartwright King’s Family and Child care team have been recognised across firm, team and individual categories at the 2026 LexisNexis Family Law Awards, with the firm shortlisted six times.

The shortlisted categories are:

  • Family Law Firm of the Year, London – Cartwright King Solicitors
  • Family Law Firm of the Year, Regional – Cartwright King Solicitors
  • Children’s Law Team of the Year – Cartwright King Solicitors
  • Access to Justice/Social Impact Award – Cartwright King Solicitors
  • Family Law Partner of the Year – Ravi Kaur Mahey
  • Family Law Young Solicitor of the Year – Rachel Jones

Cartwright King is the only firm on this year’s shortlist to be named in both the London and Regional Firm of the Year categories at the Family Law Awards. The firm’s family and child care work runs from its London office through to teams in Birmingham, Manchester and across its wider national network, and the double shortlisting reflects the strength of the practice in both settings.

Being recognised in the Access to Justice / Social Impact category places Cartwright King alongside campaign groups, university law clinics and legal advice services, organisations whose work is built specifically around widening access to justice.

Cartwright King’s inclusion reflects a different route to the same outcome. The firm holds a legal aid contract for child law, meaning representation in care proceedings remains available to parents, children and families on the basis of need rather than ability to pay. Care proceedings carry serious and often permanent consequences for a family, and without legal aid, many of the people the firm represents would otherwise face those proceedings without a solicitor.

Abdul Hussain, Chief Executive at Cartwright King, said: “Receiving recognition across six different categories is a significant achievement, but what stands out most is how broad the nominations are. That spread is not something a firm can engineer. It comes from the standard of the work and from the way we look after clients. There is plenty we still want to do, but these shortlistings are a strong indication of the progress we are making.”

Rachel Jones Shortlisted for Young Solicitor of the Year

Rachel Jones, Family Law Solicitor in Cartwright King’s Blackburn office, has been shortlisted for Family Law Young Solicitor of the Year at the Family Law Awards, a category recognising solicitors in the early stages of their family law careers.

Rachel said: “Family law is a profession I feel incredibly passionate about. Every day brings new challenges, but also the opportunity to make a real difference to people and families who are often going through some of the most difficult and emotional periods of their lives. It is a responsibility I never take lightly, and one of the reasons I am so proud to have chosen family law as my career.

“Being shortlisted has given me the chance to reflect on how far I have come and on the people who have helped me along the way. I am grateful to the colleagues, mentors, friends, family and clients who have supported and encouraged me. No professional achievement happens in isolation, and I know I would not be where I am today without the people around me. To be recognised amongst so many talented young solicitors in family law is a huge honour.”

Ravi Kaur Mahey Shortlisted for Partner of the Year

Ravi Kaur Mahey, Director in Cartwright King’s London office, has been shortlisted for Family Law Partner of the Year. The category recognises individuals who have made a major contribution to family law through their practice and their leadership.

Ravi said: “To be shortlisted for Partner of the Year alongside such a strong field is a real honour. The recognition belongs to the whole team as much as to me. What I am most proud of is the calibre of the work we are taking on and the fact that we are doing it for families who need the help most. I am looking forward to the evening and to celebrating what the team has achieved this year.”

Recognition for the Wider Team

The Children’s Law Team of the Year shortlisting recognises the firm’s work in public and private children law, including care proceedings, and the outcomes secured for parents and children in complex cases.

Stacy Fox, Head of Care (Blackburn and Rochdale), said: “Being shortlisted in the Regional category alongside the London recognition says a lot about how the team works. The standard is the same wherever the case is heard, and that consistency is down to the people in each office. Children’s law is demanding work and it is good to see the team recognised for it.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London on Wednesday 18 November 2026.
