Regulatory team successfully overturn closure order

Michael Balmer has successfully represented the owners of a bar in Greater Manchester which was subject to a closure order by Greater Manchester Police and a review of its licence following a police raid which found the old management had been allowing the premises to be used as a place to buy and sell stolen goods and deal in illegal drugs.
The new owners had bought the premises recently and brought in a new management team and applied to appeal against the closure of the premises
At a hearing before Trafford Council, Michael Balmer was able to successfully persuade the local authority that the new management had nothing to do with the criminal elements which had previously frequented the bar and was able to persuade the licensing committee to reopen the premises with conditions attached to its licence.
