In the role you will undertake a variety of duties, including:

  • Preparing and managing a varied caseload of criminal cases in all aspects up to and including trials;
  • Taking sole responsibility for progress and preparation of caseload where required;
  • Providing a high standard of client care, advice and advocacy skills;
  • Working with the Senior Clerk to ensure full coverage of our cases locally and nationally as and when required.

Person Specification

We are looking for the following qualities in candidates:

  • Holds a current practicing certificate (SRA, CILEX, Bar Council);
  • 5+ years advocacy experience;
  • Experience in a wide range of criminal cases and able to work with an extensive trial caseload;
  • Able and willing to run own caseload and acting with autonomy;
  • Able to be commercially minded and proactive in generating new business;
  • Able to successfully work towards financial targets and chargeable hours targets;
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and willing to travel from various locations as the business requires;
  • Experienced in using a case management system and Microsoft office;
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
  • High level of attention to detail and pride in their work;
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a wider team;
  • Professional and works with integrity at all times.
