We provide high quality legal advice and services in a number of private and legally aided disciplines including: Family & Divorce, Child Care, Mediation, Court of Protection, Community Care, Education, Mental Health, Employment, Police Law, Professional Discipline and Immigration, Criminal Defence, Business Defence, Motoring and Road Transport.

This role would suit a law graduate that is looking to gain work experience that will allow them to develop with the opportunity to progress.


  • Drafting letters, preparation of file notes, telephones notes and other correspondence;
  • Liaising with a variety of professionals including courts, local authorities, police forces, healthcare providers, expert witnesses, financial institutions, care providers and other third parties by phone, email and letter;
  • Drafting applications to the Legal Aid Agency and monitoring progress;
  • Drafting court documents;
  • Diary management to include arranging client meetings and making enquiries as to available counsel, experts and other parties;
  • Attending meetings with fee earners and taking notes;
  • Attending court with counsel and taking notes;
  • Reviewing disclosure;
  • Opening new case files and maintaining files up to date;
  • Scanning post and other documents to case management system and filing;
  • Preparing bundles;
  • Collating enclosures for post;
  • Liaising with the accounts team to process payments and assist with interim billing;
  • Closing and archiving completed files;
  • Performing other office duties as required;

Role specifics


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including a polite telephone manner;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills;
  • Excellent typing skills;
  • Good letter writing skills and a high level of literacy;
  • IT skills;
  • An ability to work under pressure and to work to deadlines.


  • Working knowledge of office equipment;
  • Proficiency in MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook in particular);
  • A keen interest in this area of law and a commitment to the highest level of client care and service.


  • Office administration within a legal environment ideally within a Court of Protection or litigation team;
  • Court of Protection Health & Welfare background advantageous
  • Legal research;
  • Managing a busy workload;
  • Previous paralegal experience an advantage;
  • Use of case management software would be advantageous;
  • Use of the Legal Aid Agency portal, CCMS is desirable;
