Cupcake Day: Alzheimer’s Society

Today, 16th June 2016, is the Alzheimer’s Society’s Cupcake Day. The Alzheimer’s Society have been asking people and organisations across the country to get their bake on throughout the day to raise awareness and funds to help defeat dementia.

Cartwright King’s Nottingham, Birmingham and Leeds offices have whisked up some deliciously delightful cupcakes to help the Alzheimer’s Society continue with their research and supporting those who have been affected by dementia.

Did you know that:

•    Dementia is not an inevitable part of getting older: In the UK over 40,000 people under 65 have dementia.

•    Dementia has a bigger impact on women: Half a million women in the UK are now living with dementia.

•    Dementia is a global issue: It affects 46.8 million people worldwide.

•    There are no treatments to stop the diseases that cause dementia: Some treatments can help people to live with their symptoms a little better, there are no treatments that slow or stop diseases like Alzheimer’s.

•    It’s possible to live an independent and active life with dementia: There are many people in the UK and across the world who are facing dementia head on and developing support mechanisms and strategies to live well with the condition.

Please help the Alzheimer’s Society spread the word, fight the stigma and help defeat dementia. More information on Cupcake Day and the Alzheimer’s Society can be found here.
