DIRECTORS IN THE DOCK
On the 24th September 2015 at the prestigious Galleries of Justice in Nottingham there will be a very unusual courtroom drama.
In conjunction with the Institute of Directors, senior solicitors and barristers from Cartwright King will hold a mock trial. The trial will expose the risks and liabilities associated with gross negligence manslaughter and Corporate Manslaughter. It will be informative and entertaining in equal measure and is guaranteed to raise your awareness of these hugely important business issues.
The event will be of particular interest to business directors and senior managers, including health and safety professionals. It will be the mock trial of an MD of a manufacturing business whose employee has been involved in an accident whilst driving for his company.
The Institute of Directors’ Regional Chairman will be the man in the dock and the audience will all be the jury to decide on the verdict.
Lynn Bleakley, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire IoD Chair, said ''This will be a fascinating event. With increasing numbers of directors being pursued and prosecuted for breaches of duties, it will demonstrate the serious consequences of failing to meet such duties. It will also be an opportunity to see how senior barristers/advocates fight out such cases.''
