Chet Desai

Chet represents children, parents, grandparents and interveners and has extensive experience representing clients in the Court of Appeal, High Court, County Court and Magistrates Court. He also generally undertakes his own advocacy.
He handles work in a variety of areas including cases involving neglect, substance and alcohol misuse, domestic abuse, non-accidental injury, emotional harm, fabricated and induced illness, child sex exploitation and trafficking.
He focuses on ensuring his clients receive professional, friendly and straightforward advice and with more than 22 years of experience, Chet’s clients are assured of sound legal advice from himself backed up by the other members of the care department in Leicester which he heads up.
Chet’s approach ensures that clients are treated sympathetically and made to feel at ease. Advice is delivered in a straightforward way that is free from technical jargon and he ensures his clients are engaged throughout the process, always receiving a friendly and helpful service from himself and the rest of the team.
In 2016 Chet was appointed as Head of East Midlands Child Protection Department and has overseen its growth and development since then.
He is proud to be an accredited member of the Law Society Children Panel since 2005 and has completed a Masters degree in Law.
Chet has been recognised as a Notable Practitioner in the Chambers Legal Directory in 2016,2017,2018,2019 and 2020.
He has also featured in the Legal 500 publication of 2017 and 2018 as a Recommended Lawyer.
