About Deepa

Deepa Patel is head of our Child Care department in London and Thames Valley at Cartwright King. She has practised in the Greater London, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire areas and has forged close relationships with local domestic violence organisations throughout these regions.

Deepa specialises in public children law matters and is a member of the Law Society Children Panel. She represents parents, children, and family members in applications for care orders, placement orders, secure accommodation orders and special guardianship orders. Additionally, Deepa represents vulnerable clients through the Official Solicitor. She is a highly experienced advocate preferring to conduct her own advocacy to ensure continuity of representation for her clients. Deepa's cases often have complex cultural and international elements and involve issues of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, child sexual exploitation, neglect, non-accidental injury, drug and alcohol addiction, domestic abuse, mental illness and parental alienation. She strives to provide an excellent service to all her clients, handling their case with sensitivity.

• C-D (A Child), Re [2020] EWCA Civ 501 (08 April 2020) - The case concerned ‘B’ an 8 year old boy who was subject to care proceedings following concerns about him suffering ongoing emotional harm and neglect. I represented B through his Guardian and played a central role in determining his best interests both in the short term and the long term.
