I specialise in family law, predominantly childcare, private law children and domestic abuse. I qualified in 2016 after having completed a training contract, during which I spent the majority of my time working in family law.
I represent child/ren, parents, grandparents and any other family members in care proceedings issued by the Local Authority. I can also advise on matters relating to social care involvement such as child protection and public law outline meetings. I represent child/ren in private law children disputes pursuant to Rule 16.4 FPR. I also provide advice to victims of domestic abuse in respect of Non Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders.
I became a family lawyer because I love the variety of the clientele and I love the buzz of being at Court. We deal with an array of people from different walks of life. Our area of law allows people to tell their story and for us, as professionals, to have some insight into different aspects of society.
I am most proud of my recent success of becoming a member of the Law Society Children Panel in July 2019, which means that I can represent children within care proceedings and in private law children matters, taking instructions from Cafcass or from the child/ren directly.
In my spare time, I love to visit the theatre, watch live music and read. I’m also a committee member of the South Yorkshire Family Court Forum. We organise and facilitate training events and social opportunities for family lawyers, social workers and children’s guardians.
Dear Emilie - this is a testament to you and the sterling and incessant work you have done in this case (when many others would have said it was a fait accompli). Keep going - women like *client name* need you.
