Shumyla Sheikh is an experienced family and children law solicitor, having qualified in 2009. Based in the firm’s Luton/Bedford offices, she represents clients across London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Her practice focuses on Public Children Law, Private Children Law and Family Law Act proceedings, with particular expertise in complex and sensitive matters.

Reported Cases

• Re G and B (Children) (Abduction: Settlement: Grave Risk: Ukraine) [2025] EWHC 795 (Fam) Working alongside Attia Hussain (Regional Director), Shumyla acted for the mother in a complex international child abduction case. The court dismissed the father’s application for summary return to Ukraine, accepting arguments on grave risk and settlement. Shumyla also represented the mother in the linked private law proceedings, securing a positive outcome for the mother.
• Shumyla assisted her colleague Adelina Morku in Re A (A Child) (Abduction from Pakistan) [2025] EWHC 2637 (Fam), which allowed for the reunification of a child with their mother, the child having been abducted in the most serious circumstances from abroad.
