Siobhan Cribbin

I am a specialist Private Client Solicitor with over 12 years experience working within the law.
I started my career at age 18 with a large personal injury firm whilst I was studying in Sheffield. I then moved back to Manchester to complete my LPC and I began working for a high street firm in South Manchester. After completing my LPC, I stayed with the firm and qualified as a Solicitor.
Whilst at this firm, I discovered my passion for Private Client law and began to specialise in the area.
I continued to expand my knowledge in the area whilst managing staff and Trainee Solicitors. I moved from working in South Manchester, to central Manchester and then to Lytham St Anne’s, working with great Lawyers and working on some very interesting cases.
In 2018 I began consulting and undertaking locum work for various law firms. In late 2019, I took on a locum role with Roebucks Solicitors and was offered the opportunity to stay with the firm as Head of Wills & Probate.
I undertake all aspects of Private Client Law, including:
- Drafting, advising on and amending both simple and complex Wills
- Estate administration of complex intestacy and probate estates
- Administering estates where Inheritance Tax is payable
- Joint and historical estates
- Insolvent estates
- Partial intestacies
- Small estates
- Title reconstruction for lost title deeds
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Living Wills
- Deputyship Applications
- Contesting Wills
- Tax and estate planning
- Mental capacity advice
- Coroners inquest help and advice
- Tax and domicile residency issues
My main motivation is helping clients. I like them to know that I am on their side during their difficult times. I also enjoy helping the Trainees and Paralegals in the firm.
Education
- Legal Practice Course at Manchester College of Law
- BA (Hons) Law & Criminology at Sheffield Hallam University
Motivation
What aspects of your job do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy being there for my clients when they need me the most. Private Client Law is one of the most personable areas of law to work in and I enjoy helping clients obtain closure on Probate cases, ensuring their wishes are known in the drafting of Wills and helping put their mind at ease by advising on Lasting Powers of Attorney.
I do also enjoy the variety of cases this area of law offers. No two cases are ever the same and I know going into the office each day will be different to the previous one.
Why did you choose a career in the legal sector?
A teacher at my high school one told me that I present like a lawyer. She was an ex-police officer and said she could see me working in the law and encouraged me to look into this after high school. I went home that day and asked my dad what he thought.
His words were “well you do love to argue and are dramatic so I don’t see why not” I never looked back.
