About Sofia

Sofia is a Solicitor in the Child Care team at the London office, having qualified in November 2024. With three years of experience in Children Law, including roles as a Paralegal and Trainee Solicitor, Sofia is well-versed in representing parents throughout Care Proceedings and pre-proceedings. Her work has involved exposure to a broad range of cases, including those related to physical and emotional abuse, domestic violence, neglect, substance misuse, mental health challenges, and non-accidental injuries. Sofia has also assisted senior Solicitors on very complex cases in the higher courts prior to qualifying.

Sofia is deeply committed to advocating for the vulnerable, particularly those with mental health issues, and has developed a strong passion for safeguarding their interests. Beyond Child Care Law, she has led a high-profile case concerning a Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Protection Order, which was heard in the High Court. Sofia has provided support to the national charity Not Beyond Redemption, assisting incarcerated mothers in reconnecting with their children.

Notable/Reported Cases 

Re H (a Child) [2023] EWFC 19 – Sofia was a member of the legal team involved in Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) proceedings, where the Court assessed risks both within the UK and in another jurisdiction. The case resulted in a favourable outcome for the client, with the worldwide travel ban being lifted, enabling the mother to visit her family. This decision followed the provision of specific undertakings and a thorough analysis of both 'micro' and 'macro' factors, as outlined in Re X.
