Zoe is a Paralegal in the Court of Protection department at Cartwright King's Middlesbrough office.
Her responsibilities include providing direct assistance to clients and offering administrative support to the team, drafting court documents, completing LAA applications and attending meetings with clients.
After a strong ambition to become the next Sister Duffy from Casualty, Zoe qualified as a registered nurse in 1996, specialising in Adult Emergency Medicine. Her career included working in several very busy NHS Emergency Departments and subsequently travelling the world working in aeromedical repatriations and finally onboard cruise ships.
Following a short career break to have a family she continued her passion for helping people, transferring her skills to work as an independent advocate.
As an independent advocate, she was able to support clients during times of critical care decisions, such as where they lived or what medical treatment they should receive. Another large part of her role was to act as RPR for clients who lack capacity and were subject to a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard.
That is where she gained extensive experience of The Court of Protection and Section 21a challenges and she is proud to have achieved positive outcomes for many of her clients, acting as Litigation Friend.
Zoe is looking forward to being able to expand her knowledge and continue to support clients and their families, through this often daunting process.
Away from work, Zoe is a busy mum of two trying to navigate through the challenges of getting her children to various activities.
She enjoys dog walks on the beach and Moors, yoga, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Zoe and her family also like to take time to support local and national charities, such as Dementia UK and have recently completed the 90 KM dog walk for Guide dogs UK 90th anniversary.
