Chet has built his expertise and reputation in this area by representing children, parents and other family members in a variety of child protection cases including neglect, sexual abuse, substance abuse/alcohol misuse, non accidental injuries and fabricated or factitious illness.He has also built up experience in dealing with Local Authority intervention in medical cases, representing parents and children.
Chet is also the Care Team Manager and is therefore actively involved in overseeing and directing the development of the Care Department and mentoring junior Care Solicitors. He has been instrumental in expanding the child protection work within the firm and regularly delivers in-house training to other childcare lawyers.
Chet has undertaken his own extensive advocacy in the High Court, County Court and Magistrates’ Court.
He has represented both children and parents in complex and challenging cases.
Chet is one of the few Solicitors in the East Midlands who is accredited by three professional panels, namely The Law Society Children Panel, The Law Society Family Law Panel and The Resolution Panel of Experts. Chet has also successfully attained a master’s degree in Family Law.
Chet has Supervisor status for Legal Aid purposes and has also been elected onto the Nottinghamshire & East Midlands Resolution Committee. He is also a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children as well as being a member of the Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire Law Societies.
