Paul Szabo is a Director who has specialised in Child Protection Litigation for over 15 years.
Known for his personable approach, ability to identify the relevant issues and his balanced and considered advice, Paul is an active member of the Legal Community and a specialist in Child Law, holding a Children Panel Accreditation from the Law Society. He has a particular specialism in cases involving non accidental injury, substance misuse, sexual abuse and neglect, and in 2019 was one of three finalists in the Legal Aid Practitioners Group Family Lawyer of the Year Award.
Paul is regularly instructed to represent children within care proceedings by the court appointed Children’s Guardians, but also has a wealth of experience in representing parents, grandparents, extended family members and interveners within proceedings.
Paul is a keen advocate, appearing regularly in all courts across the South Yorkshire area.
Paul has undertaken a variety of roles working with children and young people alongside his career, including being the Chairman of the Reparations Panel for young offenders in Rotherham; working with under privileged inner city children in New York and being involved in a Sheffield based group for children and young people who are in long term foster care.
Paul has also formerly sat on the Board of Directors for the Sheffield & District Law Society, has lectured for local support organisations, the NHS and other professionals. He is also a named supervisor for the purposes of Legal Aid auditing.
