Employment Tribunal Claims Fees

Cartwright King are clear and open about our fees and our charging rates. Based on the information that you provide, we will provide you with our best estimate of the fees for your cases. Our fees are tailored to individuals and case-specific requirements.

For Claimants, in appropriate cases, we can offer a Damages Based (“no win, no fee”) agreement, where we take a percentage of any compensation awarded or any settlement amount we can secure for you. Please ask us about this option.

For Respondents, we have a sliding scale of what Employment Tribunal assistance is likely to cost, depending on several factors, but should you book a free telephone consultation with us we can confirm to you which band your employment matter would fall into.

For both Claimants and Respondents, we have experience working under the terms of any legal expense insurance policy that you may have. Again, please ask us about this option.

If you are funding your own case then we will assess each case on its merits, and advise you what we believe our estimate for your case will be depending on the work that needs to be undertaken, whether this be on an hourly rate, a fixed fee for a particular piece of work, or a ‘no win, no fee’.

Please visit our Respondent employment services’ and Claimant employment services’ pages for further detail on pricing.

Disbursements

Disbursements are expenses related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as barrister’s fees, should we either be unavailable to conduct the hearing ourselves. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

A barrister’s fees are usually between £750 to £3,000 plus VAT (depending on the experience of the barrister) for the first day of a final Tribunal Hearing (including preparation).

If the hearing is to last more than one day we will agree with you a fee for the subsequent days of the hearing for the barrister. This subsequent daily fee is likely to be less than the fee for the first day.

Experience of Person Handling Matter

Shereen Murphy (Solicitor) will handle your matter. Shereen has over 13 years of experience in handling employment law matters on behalf of both Claimants and Respondents, including negotiating Settlement Agreements, dealing with Early Conciliation and representation at every kind of Employment Tribunal hearing (along with undertaking her own advocacy).

We're here for you.
