I’d like to apply for a Spouse Visa. What should I know?
A UK Spouse visa is granted to non-EEA nationals who are either married or in a civil partnership with a UK citizen/permanent resident of the UK. In addition to your marital status, you need to fulfil the additional requirements below:
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You and your spouse have lived together for at least 2 years prior to applying for a visa
- If you have no children, your combined income must be at least £18,600
- If you have children, you must earn an additional £3,800 for your first child and an extra £2,400 for each child following the first
- You and your family must have suitable accommodation in the UK
- If you come from a country where English is not the native language, you must pass an English language test (exemptions may apply)
If you are granted a Spouse Visa you will gain the right to work, live and study in the UK for up to 30 months. Your spousal visa can be extended for up to further 30 months.
