My Visa is going to run out during lockdown. What do I do?

Covid-19 continues around the globe, but many have concerns around their visa as it may run out before the pandemic retreats.

With self-isolation, travel restrictions and border closures in force across the globe many whose visa will expire in this time cannot return home.

Home Secretary Priti Patel announced yesterday (24 March) that all visas that have expired since 24 January will be extended until 31 May. This will be under regular review as it is unknown if another extension will need to be granted if Covid-19 continues.

Can You Beat The Immigration Health Surcharge Increase?

The chancellor has confirmed that the Immigration Heath Surcharge will increase yet further in October 2020. The charge will go up from £400 per year currently to £624 per year for most adults. 

Students, those on the ‘Youth Mobility Scheme’ visa and children will pay £470 per year. 

For those unfamiliar with the Immigration Health Surcharge, it is an additional fee levied on those who are applying for a UK visa to pay for using the NHS.
